About Anne DePasquale
Anne grew up in the same small town in CT as Betsey Johnson who went to high school with her mom. Anne's mom would talk about Betsey and bring her to NYC to see Broadway shows and Betsey stores. Seeing it was possible for a small town girl to make it big in the big apple, this sparked Anne’s curiosity and desire to be a New York artist one day too!
After studying painting and receiving her BFA in textile design from Rhode Island School of Design (aka RISD) Anne moved to NYC where she started her career, first in fashion, working for her childhood fashion icon Betsey Johnson, as well as Anna Sui and Donna Karan. With a desire to reconnect to crafts, Anne took a millinery and costume design at FIT and Parsons school of design. Anne was determined to make beautiful things for a living. Following her passion for handmade, Anne interviewed for Arnold Levine millinery. Although Anne barely knew how to sew, Arnold saw potential. He told her, I'll try you out for two weeks and we'll go from there... fast forward 20 years later...
Anne's work spans 20 plus years creating millinery for theatrical productions along side her collections for sale. She continues to make for TV, movies, Ballets and Broadway musicals. Several of which have won Tony Awards for Best Musical and/or Best Costume Design: The Cher Show, The Lion King, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Kiss Me Kate, 42nd Street, Cabaret, The King and I, My Fair Lady, A Chorus Line, The Phantom of the Opera, A Gentleman's Guide, Sunday in The Park with George, The Music Man, Fiddler on the Roof, Come from Away, Wicked and Moulin Rouge (just to name a few).
